Aria Operations Management pack for Automation Orchestrator is a very usefull add on to Aria Operations.
The topic of this blog is not on how to use it, but how to make the authentication work with the recent release of Orchestrator 8.18.
For details on the management pack itself, see my colleague blog post on this topic https://www.brockpeterson.com/post/vmware-aria-operations-management-pack-for-aria-automation-orchestrator. If your looking on how to do something in Operations, Brock probably has a blog post on it 🙂
Authentication between Aria Operations integration with Aria Orchestrator release 8.18 or higher via the Orchestrator management pack only supports basic auth credentials. This has been disabled by default in recent releases of orchestrator.
To enable basic authentication in Orchestrator, the property com.vmware.o11n.sso.basic-authentication.enabled had to be set in control-center of the Orchestrator or Automation appliance ( https://automation_FQDN:443/vco-controlcenter )
Starting with Orchestrator/Automation 8.18, this control center is no longer available.
The new method is to use the vracli command from the Automation appliance.
ssh as root to one of the Automation appliance nodes and run:
vracli vro properties set --key="com.vmware.o11n.sso.basic-authentication.enabled" --value="true"
The container service will be restarted and using basic auth from Operations should now work.
